Our most popular pigmented (waterproof) brush markers

  1. Pentel Pocket Brush Pen: Our most popular waterproof brush pen, with indvidual bristles (4x10mm) and smooth, wet strokes, from hairline to thick. Refillable with rich black, sepia or grey ink cartridges. Popular with illustrators and comic artists. Requires some practice to get a consistent line. Similar Pentel products are the Pentel Color Brush Pigmented Marker, a larger, squeezable, refillable, bristle tip brush and the smaller, non-refillable Pentel Sign Pigmented Pen for beginners.
  2. Uni Pin: A low cost, very durable, small felt brush tip (5mm long) available in non-refillable black, dark grey, light grey or sepia. The non-blacks work harmoniously with watercolours, making them popular for journalling and urban sketching. Non-refillable, but last a long time compared to other non-refillable pens.
  3. Sakura Pigma Brush: A non-refillable bristle tip (6mm long), available in black ink and colours. The same black ink is also available in a Professional range offering very clean lines - hard plastic tip in fine (2 x 2mm) for 0.2-2mm line, felt tip medium (4 x 7mm) for 0.3-5mm line and felt tip broad (4 x 13mm) for 0.5 to 6mm.
  4. Faber-Castell Pitt Artist Brushes: A non-refillable Indian ink brush marker, available in black and a wide range colours. This one has a softer felt tip (2 x 7mm), providing a 0.1 to 3.5mm line. Also available in a Big Brush (5 x 12mm) for a 0.3 to 5mm line.
  5. Tombow Fudenosuke: A non-refillable, small felt tip brush (6mm long), with little ghosting or bleed through of journal paper. Available in easy to use and expressive soft tip (0.1-3mm lines) or harder tip (0.1-2mm) for thinner, whispy strokes.
  6. Sailor Profit 1911: A refillable brush pen, with individual nylon bristles, supplied with 2 black soluble ink cartridges. Also compatible with Sailor pigmented cartridges or a Sailor converter to use with waterproof fountain pen ink. The Pilot Brush Pen is a similar refillable brush pen, with a smaller felt tip and can also be used with a converter and waterproof ink.
  7. Posca Brush PCF350 Markers: A water-based acrylic paint marker with long flexible bristles (13mm), for 0.1-10mm lines. Posca writes on nearly any surface, permanently on porous materials and removable from smooth surfaces such as glass, metal and plastic.
