Art Markers

Art markers are either water based (with a dye, pigment or paint), oil based (will write on nearly anything) or alcohol based (fast drying for even colour). Water-based markers blend well, whereas pigmented markers are more colourfast and water-resistant. Popular fineliner brands are UNI Pin and Pigma Micron. For wider lines and more colour choice see the dye-based TOMBOW ABT Brush Pens or pigmented Pitt Artist Brush Pens which are more lightfast. The most popular gel pen is UNI Signo Gel for it's pigment vibrancy, as the gel tends to stay on the paper surface. Paint markers are the most opaque and a lot of fun for decorating windows, skateboards, surfboards etc. For a more detailed comparison of different brush markers, see our Top 7 Watercolour Brush Markers and Top 7 Pigmented Brush Markers.
