Anna Mason
Anna Mason is a British botanical artist and tutor, who understands what it takes to learn painting as an adult. She has developed step-by-step video watercolour lessons to help you learn nature-realism.
Her essential palette of 10 colours in DANIEL SMITH include Payne's Blue Grey (PB15,PBk6,PV19), Quinacridone Burnt Orange (PR101), Ultramarine Blue (PB29), Phthalo Green (Yellow Shade) (PG36), Hooker's Green, Lemon Yellow (PY175), Organic Vermillion (PR188), Carmine, Opera Pink (PR122), Quinacridone Puprle (PV55). For brushes, she uses small, tear-shaped, synthetic brushes made by ROSEMARY & CO in England. There is a starter set, then the sizes that wear out are available in the top-up-set. For watercolour paper, Anna likes ARCHES Aquarelle Hot Pressed 300gsm blocks and for a watercolour sketchbook she recommends STILLMAN & BIRN Zeta 270gsm.
