De Atramentis Document* inks are fountain pen inks containing pigment particles that bind to the paper fibres to become permanent, waterproof and fade proof once dry. At the time of writing, there are 27 document colours available in the De Atramentis range, so we've put this list together of our best sellers to help you choose colours that will suit how you are likely to use the ink:Â
-
Document Black:Â Our #1 seller, is a high flow, fast drying, waterproof and archival ink. It is a proper black, with no offensive smell. A joy for writing or sketching in mono.
-
Document Brown, Urban Grey, &Â Urban Sienna: Popular for sketching. Brown because it's not black, grey for concrete, and sienna for sandstone. Non-black colours work well with watercolour.
-
Document Blue: A reliable, everyday blue for handwriting. Looks professional and works on paper stocks that are slow drying (Rhodia) or feather easily (Field Notes).
-
Document Blue Grey: Sometimes stock is labelled fog grey, but more blue. Sits between Document Blue and Document Dark Blue.
-
Document Cyan, Fuchsia (Magenta), Yellow: Use these three with black to mix any CMYK colour.
-
Document Red: Red pigment is more likely to clog a pen, so waterproof reds often look weak. Not this one, and so far no reports of any problems.
-
Document Violet & Purple Violet: The violet is more blue leaning and purple violet is more purple. Both look great on cream toned paper.
*A Document ink complies to the standard ISO 12757-2 for document preservation. Must be waterproof, lightfast and resistant to chemical degradation. Fountain pen friendly. Contain pigment particles. Use your pen at least fortnightly to maintain ink flow.
