This pen is popular with calligraphers becaue of the ability to experiment with line width.
The SAILOR Fude de Mannen 40 degree nib fountain pen has a special curved nib (curved upwards at 40 degrees) that gives variation in line width. You get a finer line with the pen held in a more vertical position and a wider line as you decrease the angle of the pen to the page. This 40 degree pen provides finer lines than the 55 degree green pen and is well suited to making Chinese characters.
