Can I use fountain pen ink?
Yes. It works with fountain pen ink and most other artist inks, making it an excellent tool for sampling and comparing colours without the need to clean a fountain pen.

Should I get the brass or steel nib?
We find the brass nib smoother. The steel version is finer and not as popular.

Is it better than a glass dip pen?
Many owners who have both prefer the Kakimori. The brass nib won't break if dropped, it's smoother than inexpensive glass pens and you can write and swatch with the same nib.

What's the benefit over a traditional dip nib?
Compared to traditional steep dip nibs, the Kakimori needs dipping much less often.

Does it flex like a calligraphy nib?
No. Line variation comes from the writing angle rather than pressure, giving you smooth, consistent control.

Will the brass tarnish?
Yes. The brass gradually develops a natural patina through use, while maintaining its writing performance. Rinse promptly if using pigmented inks to prevent staining.

Does it include a pen holder?
No. This listing is for the brass nib only. A compatible nib holder is required.
