Expressive writing with everyday usability

The FPR #6 EF Flex nib is designed for writers who want expressive line variation without jumping straight into ultra flex territory. It delivers a fine, precise base line with controlled flex response, making it one of the most versatile entry points into pressure based writing.

Compared to ultra flex nibs, this is more stable, more forgiving, and easier to integrate into everyday writing routines.

What set's it apart

  • Fine writing line with controlled flex expression
  • Easier to control than the EF Ultra Flex nib
  • Ideal balance between precision and expression
  • Excellent for journaling, signatures, and expressive notes
  • A popular upgrade for compatible Jowo #6 fountain pens

Practical tips

Use this nib for expression on demand, rather than constant pressure control.

FAQs

How much line variation can it achieve? Writes a very fine line under normal pressure and increased to approx. 1-1.5mm under controlled flex.

How does it compare to the EF Ultra flex nib? It provides a similar line under normal pressure, but not as much flex under pressure. This makes it easier to use and more suited to daily writing.

Which pens will it fit? The #6 EF Flex nib is commonly fitted to pens using #6 sized friction fit nib units. This includes Fountain Pen Revolution, OPUS 88 and TWSBI 700R Vac.

How can I minimise ink railroading? Flex nibs demand more ink than standard nibs. Pens with dry feeds may railroad or starve during heavy flexing. Use wet inks and a slow writing speed.

How do I fit the nib to my pen? Remove the old nib and feed together. Centre the new nib over the feed, ensuring the slit lines up with the ink channel and that the feed sits close beneath the nib. Push both back into the section until secure.
