This is a sample of Pelikan Edelstein Tanzanite fountain pen ink. A blue-black leaning towards cool grey.

Inspired by the Tanzanite gemstone, this ink shows shading properties on all the papers we tested, performing the best on Japanese paper stocks. Tanzanite is sophisticated and mysterious colour, sitting between classic and contemporary. Loved by writers wanting something more expressive than traditional black, yet still suitable for professional use.

Edelstein inks are typically drier than most other inks, giving you a practical ink to use in pens where ink flow is too high or on paper likely to feather or bleed. A good option for a left hander who's grip makes it difficult to avoid smudging the ink just laid down.

Pair with a wide nib such as TWSBI Eco 1.1mm, to help you show off the shading properties.
