STILLMAN & BIRN offer a sketchbook system, to help you find the sketchbook for the specific techniques you use. You can choose the paper weight, surface texture, paper colour and binding type. All papers are internally and externally sized, making them exceptionally strong. For watercolour, we recommend the lighter Alpha 150gsm (vellum style paper) as a beginner or practice paper, as it is less intimidating and will still withstand reasonable amounts of water and erasures. If you tend to use more water, try Beta 270gsm cold press which has a mid grain. For artists who like smooth surfaces for details, try Epsilon 150gsm or Zeta 270gsm. Nova is a coloured version of the Alpha paper, available in black, beige and grey. Delta is the same as Beta, except the paper colour is ivory instead of white. Most popular binding is the lightweight softcover, particularly the square. Bound in the USA.
