An easy way to add character to writing

Turn an ordinary fountain pen into a tool for adding personality to your writing and sketching. The FPR #5.5 F Flex nib delivers line variation with light pressure, giving you thin upstrokes and broad downstrokes from the same nib.

Designed for users who want softness and character without vintage level fragility, this nib rewards a gentle hand and slower, intentional writing.

What set's it apart

  • Softer feel than most modern steel nibs
  • Easier to control than the EF Ultra Flex nib
  • Fine line width with natural variation under pressure
  • Excellent for expressive journaling, sketching and signatures
  • A popular upgrade for compatible Jowo #5 or #5.5 fountain pens

Practical tips

Requires more pressure than the EF Ultra Flex nib, but is less demanding on feed flow and is easier to control for beginners.

FAQs

How much line variation can it achieve? Writes a fine line under normal pressure and increased to approx. 1-1.5mm under controlled flex.

How does it compare to the EF Ultra flex nib? It feels firmer, requires more pressure to spread the ties, produces less line variation, but is easier to use. The Ultra Flex nib has the additional cut aways in the nib shoulders to produce greater flex.

Which pens will it fit? The #5.5 F Flex nib is commonly fitted to pens using #5 or #5.5 sized friction fit nib units. This includes Fountain Pen Revolution and TWSBI Diamond 580 pens, and can be adjusted to fit TWSBI Eco.

How can I minimise ink railroading? Flex nibs demand more ink than standard nibs. Pens with dry feeds may railroad or starve during heavy flexing. Use wet inks and a slow writing speed.

How do I fit the nib to my pen? Remove the old nib and feed together. Centre the new nib over the feed, ensuring the slit lines up with the ink channel and that the feed sits close beneath the nib. Push both back into the section until secure.
