Andrew Tischler was born in the United States and now lives and works in the South Island of New Zealand. Tischler took up painting from a young age and has dedicated his life to perfecting his craft. He has been painting for private collectors worldwide and in recent years has taken up teaching, sharing what he has gathered over the years, with his following on YouTube.

Andrew Tischler states that the goal for the portrait painter is āto make the sitter come to lifeā. It can be incredibly difficult to achieve a convincing sense of reality within a portrait without the right tools for the job! Following Tischlerās process, the portrait is built up with many layers. Each layer requires a different shape and size of brush. This is the set that he uses for his portrait paintings from the sketch, all the way to the finished piece. There are a range of fibres here giving versatility in the marks and textures achieved. If you want to paint portraits that feel alive, this is the set for you!
